Parents usually notice developmental milestones in their toddlers and become overly excited when their children reach a certain milestone. Everything from recognizing a mother’s voice to talking and everything in between is exciting for parents. Parents can’t wait for their children to learn to stand and walk so they can properly communicate with them.

A baby’s cry can be interpreted in a variety of ways, leaving parents guessing as to what the baby is trying to communicate. As a result, learning specific vocabularies may help parents and children communicate more effectively. Parents frequently teach their children animal sounds and simple words to help them understand their needs, such as when they need food, poop, or are thirsty.

In most cases, children invent their own words for things, and hearing these sounds several times helps parents understand their meaning faster. Mom and dad teach their 15-month-old twin boys some words and review what they have already learned in the video. Sign language is also used by boys to communicate.
