While we’re sure the baby in the video below loves his daddy, there’s just something about mommy that especially comforts him. So when Mom has to leave the house, it’s up to Dad to stop his three-month-old’s tears. At first, it seems nothing Dad does can make up for Mom’s soothing voice, but then he turned to a clever hack.
After a few moments of crying, the dad pushes a cloth up to the infant’s nose.
It turns out the fabric is his wife’s dirty laundry! The old shirt still had mommy’s scent (which the baby immediately recognizes).
As if by magic, the once unconsolable baby is suddenly content. He adorably wraps his arms around the old shirt, as if he were holding his mother. Aww!
So how did the dad come across this genius solution? “Another dad-friend of mine suggested placing one of mom’s dirty shirts from her hamper on his face, so he could recognize the smell and calm down.” Faced with a fussy baby and having no other solutions, the dad gave it a try — and it worked! He uploaded the video in the hopes it would help out another dad in a similar situation.
