Dad Records Kids Trying To Bring Mom Breakfast in Bed Twice

Have you ever wanted to execute a surprise but it just doesn’t go right? It’s happened to me before. I’ve thrown a party for a friend and everything was going super smooth, she was convinced that we were just meeting some old friends for drinks, and then I go to the restaurant to set up, AND IT’S CLOSED!!! I had to implement a plan b extremely quickly.

Once, we were hanging out with family when we came up with the idea of surprising my cousin with a cake at midnight, for her birthday. We ran to the closest grocery store and grabbed her favorite one. Then, we had her brother light it up and bring it in for 12 am. What happened next, you ask? He tripped on the rug and SPLAT! The cake is on the floor.

Even as an adult, I drop things on the floor. Buttered toast. Fresh key lime pie. A glass of water. It just happens. Gravity and I have this awkward relationship where we kind of have an agreement, but mostly not. And sometimes, just to be extra cruel, when we don’t see eye to eye, we’ll work it out so that when I do drop something, it’s perfectly timed and orchestrated to land face down — 8 times out of 10.

This video is extra adorable because there are a lot of good intentions in place, just with a lack of grip and strength. Dad should have helped out a little more, but then maybe they wouldn’t have won first place on “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

Dad wanted to make mom’s day extra special. So he enlisted the boys to help him surprise her with a nice breakfast in bed from her three favorite people! Dad is recording as his two young sons carry up the meal. Everything is going great; they’re even walking slowly and using their indoor voices, so she doesn’t know what’s coming around the corner.

The first cutie is carrying a big bowl of fruit, while the little one appears to be holding a bowl of yogurt with a spoon. Dad is leading them, and just as he says, “don’t spill that…” not one moment later, the boy does exactly that, spilling all the colorful pieces of fruit across the carpet. The little boy apologizes and immediately starts picking it up. It gets better though with “Take 2.”
